More Grammarly: From Notes to Paragraphs
Recently, I wanted to see how Grammarly would take notes, formatted using main ideas and supporting details, and put the notes into paragraphs. The first time I tried it, Grammarly was able to take the notes and put them in paragraph form. Next, I had to try it again because I forgot to take a screenshot the first time. This is when I realized that Grammarly made paragraphs for the two topics that didn't even have notes.
The student did three of the five topics but did not complete notes for the last two. Even though the notes were not taken, a paragraph was still written. I'm sure Grammarly used basic information from the web, but this is a bit disconcerting. It's also fairly time consuming to find out how AI will change each aspect of my teaching.
Instead of taking all notes online, I'm going back to paper and pencil. The problem is that I NEVER want to read students' handwriting again. I purchased mini composition for notes. They will use these for initial writing (formative paraphrasing). They will then type notes in for the final which will become an essay.
