Ever Evolving

As the year comes to a close, I'm thinking ahead to my AI/media literacy unit.  If you've been following this, you know my students and I have been using Grammarly for more than editing.

I put together a document to help talk about diversity in the media.  Typically, I'd use Google to get articles, but I'm intrigued by the ease of using Grammarly.  The difficult part is making sure the prompt is specific and matches.  It normally takes me several attempts to find the correct wording. Unlike Google, the more words is typically better in narrowing the search.

This is the wording I used in a document for the assignment.  It'll be interesting to see how it works with students, but I'm excited to give it a try.

  1. Open up Grammarly in this document.

  2. Be ready to let Grammarly help you find information.

  3. Follow my prompts.  I’ve used a variety of prompts, and these will be the best to help us get what we need.

  4. You will share your findings at the end.

First, type in “current diversity in the media.

Look through the list and find two sections you find interesting.

Copy and paste them below.

Highlight an important sentence (or two… no more).

Next, type in “find current articles about diversity in the media with links.”

Find an article that you find interesting.

Copy and paste the link into Google.

Read the article.

Write down five interesting facts from the article.
